Now, More than Ever

The challenges that face institutions of higher learning are continually shifting. Examining the risks and realities before us is extremely important. Now, more than ever, we need to shine God’s light on a world that is starved for His love and righteousness.

“Asbury has the ability to stick to the core values and tenets of who we are and yet be dynamic enough to change to match the environment and culture around us. Asbury gives students the opportunity to discover who they are... from the core foundations of faith.”

Mr. Larry Brown ’80,
Chair, Board of Trustees
Asbury University

Modern challenges Asbury University confronts:

  • Evolution of student demographics
  • Shift in cultural and social ideologies
  • Changing delivery methods for a 21st-century education with increased financial pressures facing private institutions
  • Threat of legislative and legal regulations puts Christian institutions at risk if students lose access to federal and student financial aid.
  • Thirty-six percent of young millennials (age 18-24), identify as Protestant Christians. The same percentage are religiously unaffiliated.*
  • As of 2013, 77 percent of the world’s population are living in countries with a high or very high overall level of restrictions on religion.*

We believe that God is greater than our times and that He has great plans for Asbury University.
